541 High Crop pricing

A guy near me has a 541 high crop for sale. He is taking offers but has not set a price. I really want this tractor but not sure if the wife will let me since I am restoring an 850 now. Based in photos and what he said everything is in very good shape. What would be a decent price to offer for it in Louisiana.
 

If it is a true high crop with the tall front spindles and VG condition it could be worth $8,000 If it is just a 541, they are still sought after and could easily be worth $5,000. If it is a real high crop it qualifies as an investment with much better rate of return than your IRA.

That is not a high crop. If you search the tractor photos to the left you can see a 541 row crop and 541 high crop side by side. It wouldn't hurt to make an offer. I reasonably priced 541 is still a good catch.
 
I questioned whether it was a high crop looking at the photos. I am out of town so I have not had a chance to look at it in person. I will still go look at it when I get home if it isn't sold yet.
 
If anyone around me owns one of those things, and wants to make some extra money, I got a broadcast spreader and 9 tons of urea to put your tractor to work. I really hate to stomp through my corn with a 5 ton tractor in this wet ground. Even worse, I really hate to have to narrow it back in, for 30 inch rows. hahaha
