Interesting plow at salvage yard.

I was at a salvage yard today and found a Ford Rollover plow. The tag says 10-445 and 102. I am not sure how complete it is but it has a cylinder in the middle to flip it. I did buy it, and will post more pics when I have it unloaded if anyone wants to see more. I had a fun day of picking up some Ford parts. Amazed at what you find. This place has about 8 Ford 6000 Commanders in various states but very few other Fords. Many Allis, Farmall and John Deere but not a bunch of Fords. I told the owner that he needed more Fords, but he said that very few people part out or sell the Fords. They keep and use them. Thought that was kinda neat.

If anyone has one of these plows and can see from my horrible pictures what I am missing or might have some spare parts for this plow, please chime in. I have not had time to check much as I just got back and thought I would share. Obviously it needs shares and some work, hopefully worth it.

I'm glad you bought that plow. I've seen 2 of them on sale bills this spring, but have never seen one in person. I see you also picked up a single front wheel and lower pedistal. What tractor is going to become a (true) trike?
Some of the salvage yards around here have closed. It's a two hour drive each way to the closest one to me now. I kinda envy you guys that get to go poking around in them.

It seems to be a pretty neat plow and I had never seen one before. Did they make many of these? I am presuming it is 16 inch plow but will check shortly.
There were two trike single tire front ends sitting there and I bought them to resell. I have a 901 but will not be putting one of these on it.

Our family homestead has 160 acres that have been converted to prairie grass and wooded areas for wildlife. My father now retired maintains it and we plant food plots, mow, etc. I am trying to get to the point where he has a tractor an implement and we are getting close. I work on them and get them ready and deliver them to him about 3 hours away. I pick up as many parts and etc as I can, keep the best, and sell the duplicates or other on ebay or however to fund the other stuff. While I sell a lot of stuff, I mainly just enjoy messing with the Fords and love the hunt. There is something neat about fighting off horseflies digging through weeds and finding a nice complete cyclone precleaner on a destroyed hood. I was off yesterday and spent a whole day scavenging through a tractor yard in the sandhills. It doesn't get much better than that. Water and a small set of tools.

Darn, thats what I get for sitting around not buying when I should be! Been wanting to go back there for awhile but haven't got around to it! I know that honey hole well, picked alot of parts there but you are right not alota fords except for the 6000's and early rowcrop SOS tractors. Least you have the left shares on the plow, the other side should be easy to get. Have fun playing with your new toy. Greg NE

Here are some better pics after I unloaded it this morning. Dont know what i am missing yet other than plow shares. I think those are the least of my worries. What year is this thing?

Thanks.

Hi Greg.

Aren't you pretty close to this place? There weren't really any SOS rowcrops left either. It appears they pushed a road through the Ford stuff with a dozer and I could see a lot of small ford stuff sticking out of the sand. I saw a couple of RC power steering cylinders sticking up but were bent and buried. He had a complete Jubilee that he just got in, and I mentioned buying it, but he wanted to sell it as parts. I bought several pieces off of it but felt dirty. There is a set of rear steel wheels for a 9n left but he wanted 500 for them. I dont have a 9n nor have any knowledge of the value. I have a picture of them.

Yea, I'm less than on hour southeast of that yard. I knew about and looked at that plow for at least 3 or 4 years now but couldn't justify spending the money at the time. Still planning on going up there as I need a few parts for my 971 and whatever else I could find and was going to haggle with Jim some more on that plow this summer but the early bird gets the worm as the old saying goes. ;^) Greg NE

Interesting. He wasn't very cheap on the plow either. I bought it because I have seen a lot of ford stuff but never one of those. I would never have thought the plow would have been there that long, but I probably overpaid for it. Still don't regret it though as I have been pretty fortunate on other stuff.

Jason.
