75 4500 3cyl diesel, Installed new injection pump, now has great power, Engine crankcase still fills with fuel, how does cold start system work and where is it? i think it must have a problem, i didnt even know it had a cold start, i made the mistake of assumeing it didnt any ideas?

small line to glow plug on front of intake manifold near radiator.

Are you sure its not coming from.....

power steering pump?

engine mounted hydraulic pump?

both of which will pump fluid into engine crankcase.

or a dribbling injector?

or you have another leaking pump seal.

its diesel fuel for sure, whats the fuel return line go to? from the top of injectors to some doodad then the tank, the "doodad" has 3 lines on it, didnt follow the 3rd one yet, does it feed cold start system?

The 'doodad' is a small reservoir. There should be a line from there to the thermostart unit in the front of the intake manifold. Swing the battery tray out and look down on the inside of the manifold near the rubber connection. Actually... remove the rubber and look in to see if there's any fuel running inside the manifold. If there is... replace the thermostart bulb. They're mabey 40 bucks or something. Not that expensive and well worth having.

Yes, the third line from the "doodad" supplies the ThermoStart (cold start assist). It works by dumping fuel into the intake manifold and lighting it on fire to pre-heat the intake manifold and thus the air going into the engine. If the ThermoStart was leaking fuel into the intake manifold then the engine would be blowing lots of smoke out the exhaust because of the excess fuel, so if it's running fine and not blowing a lot of smoke I doubt that the ThermoStart's the cause of the fuel in the crankcase oil. You could disconnect that third line and plug the connector on the "doodad" as a test.
