Hello Rick , It is NOT A TRANSITIONAL model and yes it is listed with all the 01 series tractors in the parts books and service manuals , they were built from late 1960 through Dec 1965 . As others have said EVERYTHING is the same as as a 601 series tractor EXCEPT the front axle , front bolster , radius rods and tie rods other than that it is a 601 series tractor . If you will need to replace the front bolster they are the same between 2000 / 4000 Light Duty Industrial tractors only . Thanks Tony

So far I am finding there seems to be quite a bit of confusing information on this model & year.

The serial number sequence apparently changed in late 1962, the round cyclops hood medallion disappeared, etc.

Mine is a 20301 model
SN: 157198

Early: 2000 series SN, up to late 1962 (found with 01 series) :
1961 Serial number 131427 - 155530
1962 Serial number 155531 - up

Late: 2000 series SN, late 1962 up (found with 2000 series):
1962 Serial number 1001 - 11947
1963 Serial number 11948 - 38930
1964 Serial number 38931 - up

I'm finding parts, including the front bolster, claiming to fit Jubilee, NAA, 600, 601, 800, 801, and early 2000 4000 models.

I bought an early Ford because of the relative consistency of design and parts availability. I'm somewhat surprised by the variable information I am finding on my particular model & year.

I hope to sort it all out sometime soon. Thanks for your help!

Hello Rick , I just explained it to you in my last post there is nothing confusing about your tractor . The Red and Buff ones were built from late 1960 to Mid 1962 , your tractor was built in Jan. 1962(2000 Light Duty Industrial, 134 gas engine, power steering, 4speed trans. three point and pto). The serial number change began in mid 1962 when Ford changed the colors from Red and Gray / Red and Buff to Blue and Gray / Blue and Buff and started a new serial number sequence . I also just explained to you in my last post your tractor is exactly like a 1962 641 tractor EXCEPT the FRONT BOLSTER, FRONT AXLE , RADIUS RODS and TIE RODS those are the ONLY PARTS changed on the Light Duty Industrial Tractors and they are just HEAVY DUTY ONES. The Heavy Duty Bolster ONLY CAME ON THE 2000/4000 Light Duty Industrial tractors built from late 1960-1965 . They could also be bought over the parts counter at a Ford Dealer when they were available . The information you are reading or getting is not from Ford or from guys who do not know what they are talking about plain and simple . There is nothing left to sort out I just told you what parts are different on your Industrial everything else is the same as any 601 series tractor . I personally have two 1962 Red & Buff 4000 Light Duty Industrials and two Blue & Buff Light Duty Industrials one 1963 and one 1965 , three are gas 4 speed w/ shermans and one is a Diesel w/ S.O.S , three are 4x4's with three point and pto , one has no three point or pto , all have loaders and two are backhoes also . Aside from any damage, cracks or out of round holes, is there something I should be watching for when looking for the replacement bolster? Some indicator that I am looking at the correct, heavy duty version? Maybe a thickness measurement or other detail. I am guessing the hole pattern would be the same. Is this correct? I don't care to do this task twice or use the wrong part.

Since you have first hand knowledge, which service/repair manual should I be looking for? I have an owner's manual for the 2000/4000 all purpose model. I do want a good service manual.

Hello Again Rick , The most important thing is the threads in the pin hole that holds the axle beam . Many also get broken and welded , what's wrong with yours ? It may be better fixing yours . The Heavy Duty Bolster has the loader mounting plate already welded to it in the front with a U-shaped reinforcement on the under side of the bolster plus four small diagonal braces welded inside the bolster . If you look at your tractor's bolster carefully then go look at a standard AG tractor you will see the difference right away . All mounting holes in size and placement are the same as the Ag tractor . I have a few brand new Ford reprints of the service manual if you would like to buy one just email me .
