Gonna order a chrome straight exhaust pipe for my pop Ford 5610 for his late Father's Day gift. I can't decide if I should a double lined pipe because of the egt's or if a single wont flake or discolor the chrome. It is a non turbo tractor if that helps.
 
If you're smart you'll leave the flat black Donaldson muffler on it. The racket that thing will make without it is unbearable. Turbo engines are not nearly as bad with a pipe but that thing will be hellish.

Nope, its not a joke. Haha. We had a straight pipe on it before. Yes, it is obnoxiously load, however, that particular pipe was not more than 12" above the hood. We put a 472 New Holland haybine behind it last week. It never even put a load or even sounded like it changed the tone of the engine. I am wanting to have the top of the pipe well above the operator, so as the sound will not be as deafening. Yes, I realize it is going to be way louder than a muffler. the only other implements that we have that can "pull" the engine down is a 3-pt 3-16" plow & a 10" John deere disc, which is rarely used in the first place. Sorry for the short story but I figured since you all think I am bluffing. So how bout those EGT"s?
 
If you don't place a value on your long-term hearing, then go for it. Don't say you weren't warned.

As for EGTs, my guess is that you would need to do the double wall thing if you didn't want it to turn blue. I've never measured EGTs on a non-turbo engine, but I would have to assume that they are similar to a turboed version, post-turbo.
