851 Pump Rebuild

Got a kit to rebuild the hydraulic pump on my FIL's 851. Question is, how in the heck do you get the valve plate out of the front of the pump housing? Do they generally just pop out? This one is stuck and there is no way of tapping it out from the other side that I can see. Anyone have a tick for getting these out? Thanks

If I'm thinking of the right part, it should just fall out. I may have had to smack mine on the floor of the shop to get it started, but it came out without much resistance.

Jeff,
IIRC there was a small half moon cut out in that plate. Also the plate's bolt holes were tighter than the housing's. I was able to push it out with a punch against the plate through the bolt holes.
