Ford 860 series lift arms stuck up.

Well, after sitting most of last winter and than a 12 volt conversion, I went to hook it to the disk and the lift arms are stuck up. The arms are stuck up to the point that when I hit the lever to lower them I snapped off the lever. I did an archives search and saw that I have to get the arms down to get the cover off? Any pointers?

If being held up hydraulically (as opposed to rust or other mechanical problem), you can remove the plug in the accessory cover on top of the top cover & release the fluid, push down on arms.
