3400 axle - I hope

Below are some pics of the 3400 front end and CI oil pan. However looking at the pics that Ultradog posted they are a little bit different. From what I can tell they will fit - but not sure about the differences in the front of the bolster? BTW - I do not have the transmission bolt holes for the CI pan.

Any feedback appreciated.

It's interesting to see it so different than the ones I have seen before. Maybe a very early one?
Looks like it will work just fine though.
Will definately make a man out of that girlie 3000 front end.
Nice score.

I did some digging this evening and the number on the axle shows it to be a 3400 and it seems to use the same axle pin and bushing that my '69 3000 does - irony. I do have to get a new bushing for the axle, and hope the pin removal is not a bugger. Do you know if the radiator mounting will be an issue?

Thanks again Ultradog for all of your help. You are a gentleman and a scholar :D

I meant to say I hadn't ever seen that style of bolster. It looks similar to the light duty bolsters that was used on the very early 3 cyl 2000 and some 3000s. It's obviously for that axle though - judging by the bolt holes where it bolts up to the CI pan.
Don't let Tony see you call it an industrial.
The 3400 was a Utility. :)

It looks like it could use a new set of spindle bushings, thrust bearings and seals before you install it.

(quoted from post at 14:56:28 06/07/13) It looks like a center pivot at the rear of the oil pan. What"s that for?

That is a good question - I don't know and can find very little information about the CI pan. The NH drawing do not show the pan with at an angle to see it or not.

Maybe Ultradog or someone who is familiar with the "industrial" type of 3 cyl. Fords?

You are right - how can you tell by looking at the pic? Also there is a little slop in the center pin but I can't find a bushing listed for the 3400 which seems strange?

At first glance the parts for this setup are not as available as the 3000.
