Ford 850 Six Blade Fan

Hi All!

I recently purchased a 6 blade fan for my Ford 850. I finally got around to trying to install it today. The old 3 blade came right off. All I had to do was remove the 4 screw and wiggle it out. The 6 blade is a different matter, I could not get it in place to bolt on. Anyone mounted a 6 blade fan recently? Ideas / insights? Am I going to have to remove the radiator? :-<

TIA for any advice.

Cheers, JVB

I have a 6 blade fan on my 55 860 and have replaced the water pump without removing the radiator or sheet metal.

You will find that the 6 blade fan moves a lot of air and makes a lot of noise.

like Dean said, if you take the waterpump off it will
fit/remove/install.
However, I doubt you can just do the fan with
the radiator and shroud in place.
When I removed my six blade fan on my 850,
it was a 'no way' deal with everything installed.
I had to bend one blade end, back toward the motor,
then it came out.
which, obviously, you don't want to do with a new fan install.
Also, like Dean mentioned, they move a lot of air,
but they are howling banshee LOUD.
Earplugs level
I swapped mine out, as I have no cooling problems, and
I like to hear my engine/gears/etc, in case of problems

Thanks Guys!

I thought that would be the answer. I just don't look forward to draining everything, taking off the pump, etc.

Again, thanks for the replies.

Cheers,

JVB
