3000 three point hiccup

I used my 1975 3000 on the finishing mower the other day and the three point hitch tends to hiccup. Both at an idle and with RPM’s. I have done cylinder and piston changes one hundred series fords that did the same thing and I was wondering if this 3000 is similar. Also is there a valve someplace that could be the problem instead. The reason I ask is because the lift arms don't seem to leak down much when parked. Even over winter storage. All the older fords I have worked on leaked down almost overnight, that's why I am suspecting something else could be the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
 
yes.. it's a similar unloading valve type system as the 55-64 used.

just to be clear.

you are sayingthe lift bobs or hunts, but does not leak down ?
 
With a load on the arms they seem to bob much like when the cylinder leaks and the pump reacts every few seconds to bring it back up. They will leak down a little with a load on the arms and parked, but not when the arms are up and nothing attached. Sounds like the piston seals are leaking, but only with a load on it.
 
ok.. with no load. even a slightly worn seal can hold the simple weight of the arms up.

if it leaks and bobs with load.. then it's probbaly simple leakdown and circuit regeneration.

while there are a couple places for leaks. cyl mouth is generally a big one.

can you get a mirror on a stick and peer in with a load on it and see how much oil is exiting the cyl bore?
 
Not sure I can find a place to look in, but I can remove the cover and replace the piston seals and clean up the bore. Thanks for the help.
