7710/8210 style rear end transmission oil?

The question below got me thinking about transmission oil. I have an 1984 8210 with the syncro transmission. Do these larger tractors have separate transmission and rear end oils like the smaller ones. I find reference in the service manual to check owners manual but apparently I don't have one to check. I'm under the impression that they share oil as I do not see any seals in the parts diagrams to separate the oil and don't see a fill or check plug anywhere. Also I recently got a 7000 which is a similar rear end so whats the deal on it as well? Thanks.

77/8210's had common transmission and rear end hydraulic systems so it's one check point, one fill point for a common sump. Basically, Ford tractors work like this... if it's a 3 cylinder chassis tractor, the hydraulic and rear end/hydraulics are different sumps. If it's a 4 or 6 cylinder chassis tractor then they use a common sump. Again, I say CHASSIS. There are 4 cylinder tractors out there that are built on the 3 cylinder chassis such as the 4830 and 5030... and there are '4 cylinder chassis' tractors such as the 78/79/8210 that use the 6 cylinder engine.

That's what I always thought but I read that post and started second guessing myself. I've had axles out to put brakes in and split for rear main seals but never much in between.

wouldn't hyds and rear be common on a 3 and trans seperate?

and on a machine like a 5000/4 cyl. you have the early seperate sumps.. but later or DP a common?

Thought that's what I said... hyd/rear is common on a 3.
Yes, early 5000's were also separate boxes but given the question was in the context of 10 series... they are common sump at that point, DP or not.

tis si what you said.. just sounded a lil confusing to me. figured if it confuses me.. it will confuse others:

" if it's a 3 cylinder chassis tractor, the hydraulic and rear end/hydraulics are different sumps"

Oopsie... I think when I wrote that originally I had put transmission and rear end/hydraulics are different... wether I deleted that or what, I don't remember. That's what I had in my head anyway.
Tis corrected now.

i was thinking one of those words might been transmission in disguise. :)

i type on a tablet and do that all the time.

so hard to correct and edit or even type on this tablet .. i can see how typos' happen all too easilly.

later bro!
