Is removing the lower bolt from the inspection plate and filling to that level a legitimate method to use on a 600 as it is on an N?

No. There are 3 compartments. The r/a level is square head plug on left trumpet about pto heigt. hyd is dipstick, trans is plug about running board level.

No because you have 3 seperate compartments.Transmission, hydraulic and differential.Plug on left side of housing.1/2 inch square head plug.Get an owners manual, dont guess.

ditto what's been said.

buy a manual.

plug on back left for diffy. dipstick for hyds. plug on lower right above running board near heel for tranny. don't remove any BOLTS from tranny

I have a manual and have done the square plug transmission and dip stick for hydraulics and did not recall seeing anything about the inspection plate bolt for differential in the manual. I have a partial amount of fluid in there now or I'd just go by quantity. Thanks.

you keep mentioning inspection plate bolt.

there is no inspection plate bolt on a 00+ series you should be checking!!!

Now back from the farm, I realize I was thinking of the pto shifter plate, but that carries the hyd. dipstick. All is now clear. Thanks
