adding remotes to a 640

I would like to plumb into my pressure side on my 640 to add remotes to my 640. I have a 1 spool valve, the hoses, and the couplers. Just not sure where to grab pressure to feed the valve and where to plumb in the return.I do not have a loader on the tractor. Any help would be appreciated.

the easiest way to add a remote is to buy one of the valves that bolts right to the hyd cover in place of the 3x5 option cover. they come in sangle and dual spool, and many are switchable from DA to SA.

price runs from 150-450$ for single to dual spool used.. and about twice that for new.

another option is to get a power beyond plate and sandwich it unde rthe 3x5 cover. it will have in / out ports to plumb in another valve.

that palte and an oring kit should cost you less than 130$ shipped. lets you use a generic OC valve.

another option is to install a diverter valve on the top cover. it is a push / pull affair that sells for about 100$ used.. and has a port on it. you feed that port to the input side of your OC valve and plumb it's return to the tank via a fitting you can install in the fill cap. pull onthe diverter to kill the 3pt and run the remote.

lastly.. the cheap way is similar to above... take a loop of chain and chain under the axle trumpet and up thru the knuckle ont he 3pt so that the upper lift arms are chained to the axle. take the plug out of the 3x5 cover and run that to your OC valve. plumb return to sump as above.

you loose 3pt.. but cost is a piece of chain... unchain when done with remote and use 3pt as needed.

Man - you are a wealth of knowledge. Any idea where I can get the push pull assembly you were talking about for 100.00. I have the hoses, couplers, and OC valve in stock i removed from a tractor I sold.
On another note, it appears that I have a pump on the right side of the tractor just in front of the brake petal. Is that an external hyd. pump that I could tap into? Thanks for your help in advance.

that IS the hyd pump for the tractor.. and that IS what we are tapping into with those options I mentioned.

the diverter valves come up for sale on ebay and the calssifieds here from time to time. same with the single / dual spool used valves. this site sells the new valves as well as the PB plates.
this kit says it fits the 600 etc...

gotcha!!!
I was thinking that plate would mount on to the cover under the seat, not the hyd pump. Thanks for clarifying.

(sigh)... that plate DOES mount under the 3x5 cover UNDER the seat. and yet it is STILL tapping into the hyds of the machine produced by that front pump.

At this point you REALLY REALLY REALLY should STOP. and buy an owners and shop service manual, and master parts catalog for you machine so you can better understand how all the bolted on parts work with each other.

there is a plumbing manifold from that pump that then connects to the trans.. thru some more dubious plumbing thru the base of the trans.. to yhe center section, and then upt he casting to the top cover.. where it then interacts with that blank plate and the cyl/valves bolted underneath the hyds cover.

May or may not be helpful, but this is what I put on my 640.
Look for the silver lever near the top of the photo. That is for the handle for my single spool remote set up.

This is the kit I bought.
