If the tractor sits unused for a few days the PTO lift does not work. After I start the tractor and remove the bleed plug on the pump with the PTO lever in the down position and slowly raise it up, hydraulic fluid will start to flow out of the plug hole and the PTO will start lifting. I put the plug back in and tighten it and everything works fine.Is there an easy fix for this? I've read where I can replace the plug with a valve and a hose to make it easier to get it working, but would like to properly repair it.

first. lets start by getting you using the right terminology.

you are talking baout hydraulics on the 3pt. NOT the PTO

the PTO is the lil shaft that sticks out the back of the tractor that spins..

that said.

a lift that looses prime can be a few things.

common problems are bad orings at the plumbing manifold from the sump to the pump.

unfortunately.. equally common problems are shaft seals inside the pump... that one is a lil harder to rebuild.. etc.

I had that same problem with my 600 a few years
ago. Always had to bleed the pump. After checking
everything, the thing that fixed it was rebuilding the pump itself.
