Hello All,
I am going to paint parts of my
Ford backhoe as I make repairs on it. What is a good brand of paint to use? I am going with the stock blue Ford color. I want a durable paint that sticks like gum!!

You might want to consider getting the blue paint from a New Holland dealer. Their paint is pricey (like all their stuff) but it seems to be very good quality. I painted parts of my old loader with their spray cans (old Ford blue, they also have New Holland blue) years ago and it is holding up well. You can always get more when you need it and it matches well year to year. Just my opinion, others here may disagree. -Will

Stickability of paint comes from prep and primer as opposed to the top coat. Pretty much everyone here recommends epoxy primer if they are doing a thorough prep. But if you are looking for just a 20-20-20 job, that is, looks good at twenty feet at twenty MPH for twenty weeks, then you could just use the hardware store aerosol primer.

I base my paint decisions off of prep time

pressure wash and remove big chunks gets tractor store paint / primer

wire wheel or sand blast to bare metal gets automotive paint w. epoxy primer

That's pretty much what I have posted a few times on the paint forum: Don't put cheap paint over a fifty hour paint job and don't put expensive paint over a five hour paint job.

I get mine from CNH also the price is competitive for good paint... I get the hardener from NAPA...
