4000/3pt lift height, postion controll, what this?

The 4000 I recently bought will only raise the 3 point 24 inches
measuring from the ground to the center of the little eye/ball
thingy. My 8N goes up to 34 inches. I believe the position control
lever should be able to lift up. But there is an elbow from the
remote hydraulics there with a plug in it. I've tried to push it
down. Don't seem to go that way. Remove the ellbow and just
put in a plug? Then the PO left something on the lift arm I'm not
sure what it was used for. Maybe some implement had a
hydraulic cylinder that would hook there. When the arm is up all
the way to the 24 inches there is about one inch of clearance
from it and the axle housing. Did maybe the PO fix the lift so it
won't raise up all the way? Is the max height adjustable some
way?

It shouldn't matter what position the selector lever is in... the arms should fully raise in either draft or position control when the control lever is fully raised.
Something looks strange about the geometry of the lift arms. Do the lift arms/crank come up by the seat when fully raised? Do you have another pic of that?
Could be that it simply has the wrong lift rods... or they're fully extended so they're longer than necessary.... or not correctly positioned on the lift arms. Several possibilities.

As far as that street elbow on the remote valve... you can either remove it or get the correct hydraulic style steel fitting that should have enough clearance for the selctor lever to clear past it.

Can't get another picture till I get back home this weekend. I'm a driver. Battery was low. So I only charged it enough to take these two pictures this morning before leaving. Heres one from when I just got it. But I don't think that will be close enough the tell anything. But both arms are set at the same length. I can't turn the crank on the one that is adjustable due to the crank hits the rollover protection. But it feels like it's gears are striped out any way. That's another thing to work on.

First off it is probably not a 4000 , the rear axle is early design 801 from 1957-late 1960 small bolt(4000 should be a large bolt rear) with a pto shaft bearing retainer from an 8N so it has been apart before . Draft/Position control DOES NOT LIFT UP it goes DOWN if it does not it is screwed up and that is probably why it does not go to full lift . Adjustment / settings are probably way off repair is in the Ford manual. As Rod said it will go to full lift in both positions , what I can see in the pictures lift arms look correct .

You are probably right. I've had my suspicions with the red paint under the blue. And he sold to to me as a '59 / 4000. I think the 4000's weren't made till '62. At some point someone changed the hood out with a 4000 I guess. But I believe the 801 and 4000 are basically the same tractor are they not? Don't guess that will make much of a difference. Guess I'll need the get a kit and pull off that top plate and see what I can do about it.
