i have a ford 4000 manual transmission 8 speed i believe. can i use a trans hydraulic oil in both the rear axle and transmission or does it require different oil for each one? planning on purchasing oil from farm store. thx

The rear axle housing fluid is used as a lubricant for the differential, plus it is the hydraulic fluid for the 3 point lift, plus it is the oil that cools the wet brakes, so you need to use a UTF that says on the label that it meets or exceeds the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification. You can use the same UTF in the transmission, or you can use gear oil (80W, 90W or 85W/145, depending on what temperatures you'll be running it in).
