auction results - 5 Fords

I've driven past this farm a few times a year for 8+ years, and have often thought about stopping in to see if he'd sell any of his Fords (knew of 3 - 3000, 6000 and 9600). Had a chance at all 5 today, as everything sold. Didn't buy a tractor, or anything else. I'll just post some pictures now, and prices later tonight or in the morning.
There was a 960 that "ran at one time". Sold just how you see it - no tires, rims or centers, manual steering, one 3-point arm missing. But the engine IS loose.
671D w/ 1 arm loader and original bumper. Ran nice, but couldn't move the SOS shifter at all. Also a fist sized hole in one rear rim by the valve stem.
6000 diesel. It's been sitting in the pasture as long as I can remember. No muffler or precleaner, or anything to cover their openings. Couple welds on the front axle.
3000 diesel/8-speed. Needs a starter and grill. And maybe injectors or injection pump or rings, as is has a pretty bad miss. Newer rear rims and one new front tire.
9600 - Nice tires all around, sounded good, maybe smoked a bit much, like it had been turned up (but nothing there would have needed more power). Worst things about it were a welded rear hub and modified 3-point.
I have a few more pictures, if anyone wants to see them, but figured this was enough for one post.

Yeah, lots of it was pretty rough. 4020 JD and 9600 were actually pretty good for their age. The owner has been semi-retired for a number of years, and I think pretty much anything that wasn't needed to take care of his steers was just parked when something went wrong.
OK, on to prices. Brace yourselves. :p
960 - first tractor to sell, kind of gave me the idea I should just go home then. $1525.
671 - $3200, loader and bumper included.
6000 - $775 The 5x16 Ford 151 plow in the background needed shares and moldboards and still brought $1000, 2x what it would have brought 5 years ago.
3000 - $2950
9600 - $9200 First time I've seen a 9600 top $7000 in more than 10 years.
Not a real happy day for Luke. He (we) had SWMBO's permission to spend some money from his savings account, IF it was on something we could make money on. He wanted to bid once more on that 6000... I figured by the time we paid to have it hauled home, and our time taking it apart, it was high enough.

Fordfarmer: Thanks for the update. Thats incredible money for those rough tractors. I am especially surprised that the 671D with non working trans. and no PS brought that kind of money. What would a nice 661D with PS bring in a spring auction here in Wis? Makes you wonder. Thanks again for the pictures and your update. I wanted to go but couldn't pass up getting stuff done with the nice weather we've been having.

I was surprised at the prices, too. Fords are popular here, but yikes! I thought Luke and I might come home with either the 960 or 671, but we weren't even in contention. I'd bet your 661D would have topped $4k pretty quickly there. I think he hit the 'perfect storm' for his sale... one of the first farm sales in the area this spring (several consignments and dairy sales, but not many complete sales), several Fords, and a beautiful day before field work started.

thanks for pics and info, glad i couldnt travel 700 miles this weekend, i did find 6000 though, with a M&W turbo. brought it home last night. picture later in forum.
