Ive got a 1972 ford 2000 diesel tractor couldn't get it started found battery dead and ran for several days no problem. But now can't get it to start unless pulled off when you turn the switch lights come on and you hear starter try then it goes dead nothing happens lights won't come on nothing. Please help

so far.. I've read that you have a diesel tractor with a dead battery. you pulled it off to run it.

and are now flabergasted that it won't start / barely turns the starter with the previously mentioned dead battery.

am i correct so far?

if so..

CHARGE the battery.. then you can test a few other things.. like the genny and regualtor

Sorry wrote it Wong I replaced the battery a week ago and today can't get it to start unless it's pulled off tested battery with load tester it's good

Others her can help you figure out what you need to do. They are very good at this.

Where are you located?

if there is plenty of bat power to start it by arcng solenoid.. but won't key start. check NS switch.. run the range selector backa nd forth while holding the key in start and see if she tries to go.

(quoted from post at 05:34:41 04/29/13) have you checked the fuse behind the dash?
es it's good but the dash will light up first time you go to start After that nothing comes on at all!

If it starts by jumping at the starter....

check small cable that runs from starter up to voltage reg.... check at regulator, there is another small cable on the twin lug that runs to ignition switch. check ignition switch, and let us know.
