Here's the story- The neighbor uses his 7600 loader tractor all the time and goes through a clutch disc in about 4 years. We decided to try a disc from a 9600 thinking it would be a little bit stronger. The 9600 disc is about .018 thicker than the 7600 disc. The flywheel was shaved .010 but not all the way out to the edge. The inside of the flywheel where the disc rides is .010 deeper than the bolt circle is. After installing the 9600 disc we couldn't get the clutch to disengage from the flywheel to get it in gear. The local garage told us to shim the pressure plate out and that should work. We shimmed it out .1 and then we could get it in gear. Unfortunately we now have too much movement and the clutch started making noise. (We weren't running the tractor at this time, we were just rocking it back and forth and could hear the clutch springs making noise)We could adjust the clutch to work, but we ended up with about 5" of free play instead of the 1.5" we wanted. We believe this experiment to be a failure but we were wondering if anyone else has had success with putting a 9600 disc in a 7600.
