lug tires on the front of my 3000?

I use it in soft sand and deal with thorns in east texas. I puntured my three ribs twice in an hour and had to do repairs. I have read of people using lug tires for more weight capability, better steering in loose sand and punture resistance. I just would like a little reassurance before I go that route. I do not do any rowcrop work at all, its a big overgrown lawnmower with a real handy one arm loader. What do you all think?

Tire liners will solve the thorn problem.

Or what about loading them up with green slime. I never used that
brand, usually the spray can of sealer, but I'd use a good tire sealer
before I did anything drastic.

If new ribs won't work, I don't see how a lug would do any better in
turning. The rib is a continuous ridge and I'd think that would be
the best solution.

You could also consider a pair of mud and snows.

with loader and sand... you need wide wide wide tires or you will sink.


and if you have thorns.. you need aircraft tires... 28 ply and full of sealer.

get them from Gensco at (1-800-noflats) IIRC.. I use the aircraft tires on my balers, on my rakes, on my cutters and especially on the front tractors.

You buy them already on the farm rim, so you just bot them on.

If I can get them, I will put rice tires on the rear and because they have the double tall lugs, and they are almost flat proof. When you have hundred of acres of mesquite with 3 inch thorns... regular front tires will last about an hour if your lucky. The aircraft tires will actually run with no air, and bulge a tiny bit.. That way you know to add air back to them, which I have to do every 5 years or so. They are also a bit wide, so make great loader tires. The are usually aircraft patterned so are not the best rowcrop tires out there. Occasionally they will retreat them into mudgrips for the jeeps and once in a blue moon they will retread over them into farm ribs. You can run them down to the cords and still run them another 20 years. When you get to the red cords, they are no longer safe for 200 mile per hour landings and should be replaced. Down here they are considered part of the estate and are passed down to some lucky heir to be used for another 50 years.
