901 wide front end switch

I have a 55 960 with a narrow front end. I have found a wide front end for sale from a 901. Anybody know if they are interchangeable?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A '55 will have the one-piece pedestal. You can put the wide front on your tractor IF you get the later 2-piece pedestal along with it.
 
To illustrate your existing front pedestal looks like this:

A x01 series pedestal assembly looks like this:

Hopefully you would get one with the steering components and with a good pinion shaft seal.

The axle support should be part of the wide front axle assembly and is installed as shown below using the 6 bolts shown (5/8" SAE if memory serves me correctly) noting two bolts are shorter...
