ford 2000 axle seals 3 cylinder diesel

I assume you are talking about the pressed on collar? Book says to drill a hole in it then split it with a chisel. Then buy a new one to replace it.
 
cant be that way shurly as have to remove bolts that hold on the axle from the axle housing would not need to replace all of that stuff
 
If you're replacing the grease seal in the hub... then yeah... it is that way. You unbolt the hub ring and pull the hub and axle shaft out. From there you either have an axle shaft that's retained in the hub with a shrink collar or a large nut. Then nut you can remove. The collar... I'd just cut off with the torch... or as jerry said... drill it and split with a chisel.
Then you need to press the axle out of the hub/bearing. Make sure to get the hub well supported between the hub and axle flange or you'll break the hub. It's probably a lot more sensible to take it to a shop that has a large press if you don't have one. Once it's apart, change the seal, renew the bearing if necessary, etc and reinstall. I'd also change the oil seal on the main axle housing before reinstalling the hub/shaft.

My I&T manual agrees with what Ultradog is saying. You've got to drill the bearing collar and split it with a chisel to get to the seal to replace it. Then you've got to heat the new collar to 800 degrees to get it swelled up big enough to be able to press it on, and then when it cools it shrinks to fit. That's why you have to destroy the old one to get it off. It is only the bearing collar, which is one piece, not "all that stuff".

If you don't have a manual you should get one. The I&T FO-31 manual is only about $30.00 and then you won't have to believe folks like us.
 
thanks yall i understand it now after i got the i&t manuel and read it i had done a 3000 b4 not a 2000 wow what a difference in design ...
