Rocker arm/pushrod/valve adjustment

I had the head worked on my ford 800. While it was being worked, I decided to take the rocker assemby apart and clean it. Including the adjustment above the pushrods. That was a waste of time. But now I have no idea how to get the rocker in the right position. I am wondering if I put the piston in the lowest position, and then adjusted the rocker to within .015" of the valve, it would be close enough from there. Then do the next two cylinders. Any help would be appreacited. I knew I should have not taken it apart!!!

When I adjust the valves I do it this way. I turn the engine so say you have 2 exhaust valves open I then adjust the intake that way I know for sure they are closed all the way. I do that till all the valves have been adjusted

Your not understanding what I am saying. You adjust thew close valve when the one next to it is open that way you know it will be closed as it needs to be. Then you spin the engine over to the point the one you adjusted is open and the other one is closed

1) I have adjusted them every way know to man,,, the correct way is to have the piston of the cylinder you are adjusting at TDC compression stroke. You can not be off/wrong that way it just takes a little more work... This will guarantee you are on the heel of the cam any other way you may not be.

The reason I went back to adjusting them see 1) is I have rechecked them and its not uncommon to fine them off...
