can some one explain how the started switch works on a 8n? only one wire coming from it and no others wires right?
 
If you're talking about the thumb push button on the tranny cover, just one wire.
When you push it, you are connecting the chassis "ground" if you will to the
solenoid via that one wire. That connection energizes the solenoid.
Unlike car solenoids or other 4 wire solenoids.
 
It is a grounding circuit so when you push it down it grounds out and the solenoid then kicks in. Those solenoids work different then ones on the cars and trucks
