800 won't stay running

I posted a couple days ago about the 12v - 6vcoil dilemma. I think I finally got that straight in my head. So, here"s what I did:
New plugs, points, condenser. Eliminated the 6v block and ran a straight 12v to a new napa coil (forget the number but it was theone recommended here). Rebuilt the carburetor with a new kit after soaking overnight in cleaner and blowing out all openings with air. My original problem was that it would only run for a few seconds (30) or so with the choke fully on, then die. Could not get it to run without full choke and could not get it to run with virtually every combination of air/ fuel adjustment. The Marvel only has the two that I am aware of. Now after all that it runs EXACTLY the way it did prior to my efforts! What have I missed?!

I don't recall the other post, but do you have good gas flow to and through the carb?
Should be able to take the drain plug out of the bottom and catch it in a can.
Let it run a couple minutes and make sure it remains a steady flow.
If not you could have a plugged line, screen or a non-venting gas cap.
There could also be gunk still stuck in the carb. Sometimes blowing the passages
out with air isn't enough and you need to run a wire through them.
All assuming it has plenty of gas in it of course. Don't over-look the obvious! :)

First check and make sure you have a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more.
Next pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas from it for say 3 minutes. Catch that liquid gold so you can use it and also look for water etc in it.
Next screw the main jet the one close to the bottom of the carb out say 3 turns. See if it will run then.
Post back if any of this helps or not so we can help you more

I can't get back to it for a few days, but I do know I have a yellowish spark from the center coil wire to a ground. Is that the spark you referred to?

Yes and it needs to be a blue/white in color and jump a 1/4 inch gap or more NO MATTER what. Sounds like you have poor spark and could be as simple as point gap wrong Needs to be 0.025 or a weak ignition switch

I set the gap at .025. The poor ignition switch is a possible. It's the original and does feel a little loose. When I get back to it i think that's the first thing I will check. I have one in the garage from my riding mower, I think I'll just change it and see what happens.

Shoot to check for a bad switch just do a simple hot wire. Just run a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil and try to make it run. If it runs fine then you have a bad switch or bad wires from the coil back. Also check the spark with it hot wired

No fuel pump, It"s gravity feed, So make sure your cap is vented, there are no "sags" in your fuel line and as long as you have the proper screen leaving fuel tank and entering carb. plus proper sediment bowl you don"t need an inline fuel filter!
Good Luck GT65

Did you put a new glass bowl assembly on? My 841 did exact same thing and it was the hollow bolt that bolted glass bowl to carb. Something about the way the bolt was drilled was restricting gas. Drill you another hole 90 degrees from original one and try it
