I have an 98 2120 with the 4cyl diesel and I went to put the balancer assembly back in and went to time it.... There"s no timing marks... Would anyone have any suggestions on getting it timed again?

Thank you

I just rebuilt one for a neighbor a couple months ago. I don"t remember the exact procedure, but you put the engine at #1 TDC and then turn the weights so they are as far down as possible, I think. If no one else knows, I can check in his shop manual for you.

Thank you very much. I called the dealer and they said they would call me back in the next hour or so..... But that was this morning, And the manual I have or this only says to scribe marks in the gears if there are no marks.... I got the manual a couple days ago and I already took out the balancer and it don't say anything else on putting it back in or timing it

If you don't mind could you check that manual when you have a minute... I don't think the dealer will tell me cause they want me to bring the engine in to them and make money off of me...

Number 1 and 4 at TDC, position balancer weights straight down. Install with original shims and tighten bolts to 51-58 ft-lbs.
It doesn't specifically say, but I assume the engine is upside down when the weights are straight down. That's the way I installed it at least. The picture shows the balancer as it would be if the engine was upside-down.
