I can't get back to it for a few days, but I do know I have a yellowish spark from the center coil wire to a ground. Is that the spark you referred to?

Yes and it needs to be a blue/white in color and jump a 1/4 inch gap or more NO MATTER what. Sounds like you have poor spark and could be as simple as point gap wrong Needs to be 0.025 or a weak ignition switch

I set the gap at .025. The poor ignition switch is a possible. It's the original and does feel a little loose. When I get back to it i think that's the first thing I will check. I have one in the garage from my riding mower, I think I'll just change it and see what happens.

Shoot to check for a bad switch just do a simple hot wire. Just run a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil and try to make it run. If it runs fine then you have a bad switch or bad wires from the coil back. Also check the spark with it hot wired
