860 spark plugs

So I'm getting ready to order the ignition tuneup get from the parts section and I noticed it has Autolite 437s included. The autolite site shows 216s what works best in these tractors?

Flannelman........while the AutoLite 216 is the conversion to the original Champion H-10, the AutoLite 437 is preferred for todays modern "no-lead" gasoline. Gap is still 0.025" ........Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

The 216 is a cooler running plug then the 437 is and that is why we say use the 437 due to this crap gas we now have and the 437s do not foul as easy

(quoted from post at 10:23:38 03/26/13) Just means your one of the few lucky ones is all or you do not have the alcohol gas in your area

Wait a minute! Luck has nothing to do with my tractor running just fine with 216 plugs. Correctly adjusted carb.,an up to speed ignition system and not burning any oil have much more to do with it than luck. I'm burning 10% gas like most everyone else in the country.I tryed 437 plugs and the tractor ran just fine with them but I prefer running a cooler plug in any engine PROVIDED the plug dosen't foul.

A lot does have to do with luck and where you live and how you run a machine. My 841 I have the 437s in but it does not get run often and when it does most of the time it gets run say 15-30 minutes top unless we have a big snow then it gets run a lot longer so that is why I do run the 437s

I live in the N/E corner of NYS.Summer temps can run up to 90* and I'm either bush hogging pastures or skidding logs.Winter temps.can go down to -40* I don't run the tractor at that temp but I have started it -20*.It's not luck that got it started. It takes a good batt.,10/30 oil and a proper tune up.Incidently it's still 6 volt,+ gnd.

Only 90 here in Missouri it is common to get to 105 or more. I have owned this 841 since around 1982 and has been rebuilt but is 12 volts and has a extra heavy duty loader on it and Sherman aux combo so it has been worked hard from time to time and is used the move my round bales of hay and loader work but as I said not run often any more but then I do have around 30 tractors. I am a mechanic by trade and most of the tractor I own I got non running and fixed them

My 640 had new Champion H10s when I bought it.Plug fouling was awful.H12s fixed the problem.Engine doesnt use oil and I know how to adjust the carb jets.I have found that prolonged idling will foul the H12s so bad that the tractor cant move.437s are sold because the 216s foul with unleaded gas.Look for plugs marked made in USA.
