801 Diesel engine noise

My 881 diesel engine sounds strange since I own this tractor. So now I want to solve that problem. It seams to me that the trust bearing of the camshaft is runnig quit rough. How do I change that? Is it enough to open the front cover, or to I have to take apart the complete engine? Where do I get a bearing like that? Please see the right lower picture on the added file.
Thanks for any help.

I can't help you much as I'm less familiar with those 4 cylinder models.
I do know that to work on the cam shaft you would need to split the tractor as the gear that drives the hydraulic pump on the back of the engine has to come off before you can pull the cam out.

I'm assuming your 801 diesel has the 172ci engine, the picture you posted is of a gas motor. The 172ci does not have camshaft thrust bearings in fact they have no bearing at all but behind the timing gear there is a camshaft thrust plate. To test this, once you get the timing cover off push on the timing gear toward the rear of the engine block then take a screw driver or what ever and pry forward behind the gear then take a long filler gage ( dial indicator is best) and measure behind the gear how far forward it has moved if it moves more then .007" of an inch you will at least have to replace the camshaft thrust plate. If the gap is excessive then on the back of the cam is the hydraulic pump drive gear and it maybe worn and need replaced also but for that you will need to split the tractor. If this all test good then I would check the counter weight drive gear as these I am told wear out, you just have to drop the pan for this. Yesterday Tractor sells an very nice manual for this tractor, but it mainly refers to gas motors but does talk about the diesel since the two motors are almost identical. Plus they sell most parts (but not all) you will need. Hope this helps.

To start with you need to instead of saying "seems" you need to tell what you are hearing and why it seems like a cam shaft thrust bearing.

When I stick a srcewdriver to the timing gear at the front of the engine there where the camshaft somewhere ends I will get the typical noise of a worn bearing or similar like that. When I rev the engine up and down The noise will encrease to loud sreaming.
What could that be?
Thanks for any help.
