Was out spreading rock to day when all of a sudden this tractor started rolling black smoke out the exaust,i mean real black smoke and some soot, never had any problem before this, tractor was running good untill this.What could be wrong? Thanks for any help.R.E. Lee
 
it ran real good during all of this and now its done cleared up when i went back and started the motor a bout an hour later ran it for 2 hours and it ran fine, don't know if it will last r not. thanks R.E.Lee
 
Best i could tell no diesel in moter oil,when this happened the motor clattered loud like one when u use to much starter fluid i shut it down for one hour checked ever thing i could all oil,water all fluids was ok,started the moter let it run and after a few seconds smoke cleared up and i spread rest of my rock.Thanks R.E.Lee

Did that injection pump have an excess fuel button? I highly doubt it, but doesn't that sound like how it is acting?


Pump gets hot with engine, and a crack opens and floods the 'jector firing, one after the next. I know those pumps are prone to cracking between injectors. I have been there. That was a few years ago now. don't remember much. diagnosis is more a reflex action to me anymore. I have to see it to know it. But, from I remember, I know they crack. It just seems like excess fuel.

No, it was the Simms in-line that had the richening button .
