1973 ford 3000 with leaky axle

havent been into this tractor before can i pull the axles out after removing the outer axle housing and backing plate? seals are leaking out onto the brake shoes or will i have t remove the outerbearings to get the seals out like on a 9 inch ford truck rearend thanks for any help

You remove the hub and brake assembly and the shaft comes out with it... then you either remove the retianer nut or cut the retaining collar off the shaft and press the shaft from the bearings/hub.

I had a similar problem with my 3400. There is a seal in the trumpet that can be replaced with the axle removed.I didn't break the bearing retainer to replace the bearing seals. My leak was from the dif. I did have leaking spindles, which is why I removed the left trumpet. If yours are leaking, now is the time.

thanks for the replies kinda gives me directions as to which to head its not leaking bad just enough to oil up the brakes fixin to order new shoes so i guess i need to replace the seals
