do the older 8000s have a rear end oil pump to lube the bearings? this tractor dosn't have duel power. i would like to know because i want to tow this tractor about 11 miles. this tractor is set for the widest setting on the wide front and rears. also it has been sitting for 10 years. i dont want to ruin anything in the rear end. thanks

There is only hyd pump. No trans oil pump. Id loosen r/a and trans drain plugs and drain off any water that is in cases. The trans and r/a are seperate compartments. Its going to be a bear to steer without engine running. Check the Brake Oil level. DO NOT use brake fluid. Only brake oil. The new nh pn 73340450.

The front wheels will not follow the turn, nor will they straighten out when the tow vehicle wants to go straight. I have towed my 8000 for less than 2 miles, and did it with another tractor of similar weight. If you pull it with a PU, you can get into real trouble. Remember the steering is fully hydrostatic and has no sense of what the wheels want to do. I ended up being the "driver" in the cab of the 8000 while son was towing slowly, and extremely slowly while turning at an intersection, meanwhile I was turning the steering wheel like mad trying to allow the steering oil to escape back to its resevoir through the steering valve.
