Neighbor is looking at a 600 Diesel and don't know what to offer. It's a one owner and is in good condition, good tires. I haven't seen it. Is it rare? I've seen a few not many. What is it worth? The old man wants to sell.

No such thing as a 600 Diesel because the diesel engine was not introduced until after production of the 601/801 series started in 1958.
The 601 Diesels are not rare and they are not worth a whole bunch of money. In fact they are sort of a stepchild that nobody wants because they have a 144 cu in engine and parts for that engine are hard to find and expensive. The 172 cu in diesel used in the 801 series is much more popular. I'd offer $1500 if it runs and has good tires.

ditto what's been said. 601d came along in 59 with the rest of the 'D's from ford.

if it has the 144ci engine ( thus is in fact a 601D ).. it's not worth as much as an 801D.

check theblock # and the trans number.

many times people have no idea what they are selling...
