stuck steering/connecting rods...5000 Ford

Got a 5000 Ford about 2 years ago and it was narrowed up when I bought it and have been using it as is. Today me and my son widened out the rear wheels to 6' center so that I can use it with 2 row planters this year, we got that done easily but have a problem on the front end. Removed the front axle bolts and the front axle slides in and out easily but can't budge the steering/connecting rods, have the bolt out of it but must be rusted internally. Any ideas on what to try, I pounded on it for a while and have been spraying PB Blaster on the end of it but no luck yet.

When we had to adjust the rod on dad's 5000, we ended up taking it off the tractor and chained one end to the front axle of the tractor and the other end to the bucket of the loader. when we raised the loader it pulled the two halves apart. We then cleaned the rust and gunk off and coated it inner half with gun grease. Poor people make do with what's on hand.

Yeah I was thinking about doing something like that. I was also wondering about just turning my front wheels inside out, they are currently on 5' center and if I turned them around I believe that they would then be on a 6' center due to the offset. Would there be a problem with running the front rims turned inside out? That would be my quickest and easiest fix.

I used a 3/32" thick cutoff wheel on an angle grinder to extend the slot in the tube...less elbow grease than a chisel. Going to be doing this again on my basket case 5000 soon.
