SOS to 5 speed conversion with Diesel Which flywheel?

Probably about to swap out a non working SOS in a 971 diesel. I have a 850 tractor as a donor with 5 speed. My question do I need to find a diesel flywheel for a 4/5 speed trans to make this happen.

Use the flywheel and the engine/transmission spacer plate from the 850.

Gas or diesel makes not difference on the flywheel. You must use the flywheel that came with the tranny. You also must use the block plate that came with the tranny.

If you are changing from a gas to a diesel I think you need to change the ring gear; there's a different number of teeth for gas vs. diesel. The ring gear is "heat shrunk" onto flywheel; I changed one with heat from an acet. torch in one spot only.

The connector tube between trans and r/a pinion has different number of splines.
