On My naa when blowing snow(sometimes @ zero degrees or less) It will not let me shift into 1st or 3rd gears, but when it's warm its shifts to all gears properly. It also has a slight shudder when starting to move. The last time I drove it I noticed the clutch pedal is almost at the running boards before engaging.
I have checked the oil and it seems OK(not milky or discolored .) Are these all signs of a worn clutch or is something else the cause. I just recently put this tractor together after it sat in the neighbors garage for 15 + years after he overhauled the motor. Any clues? Thanks

I think you have you wording back wards as it does not disengage till almost to the floor board right??? If yes it could be a simple adjustment needed or the clutch pressure plate or throw out bearing going bad. or the linkage getting ready to brake

Did you use thick heavy grease on the transmission input splines during assembly? If so, that may not be letting the clutch disengage when its cold.

What does it do when you try to shift into first and third? Grind?
I'll second Old on the adjustment and checking for bent/cracked linkage.
The shudder makes me think it could have some grease or oil on the clutch
disk, depending on how bad it is. Could also be other things.
One of mine has a slight shudder when taking off, but it is so minor I opted
to leave it alone until it needs replacing.

I didn't have the tranny apart. When I try to shift into 1st or 3rd it feels like there is no place for the shifter to go, no grinding at all.
I thought the shudder may be from sitting for so long and the surface of the clutch may have glazed over.

Have you changed the tranny fluid?
It could have the wrong oil in it and be too thick in cold weather.
I've never actually seen that be so extreme that you couldn't move the shifter
into gear, and I live in Michigan, but if it were the clutch not fully disengaging
I would think it would grind the gears together.
Others may have some more ideas.
