have you cleaned up the chassis ground location?

have you pulled the starter to see if it's got bad brushes or bearings / bushings?

I've not pulled the starter yet. I am going to recheck all connections and clean up anything that looks like it could be causing the problem as far as grounding.

If that does not work then its off with the starter.

a final check before pulling starter is a jumper cable from battery to starter quick check.

be in neutral and clutch blocked..

yes someone suggested taking a jumper cable from the solenoid pole to the starter.

Speaking of the solendoind i did notice that there was a lot of gunk behind the plate that attaches the solenoid to the tractor.

that actually should not matter.. solenoid is an isolated base..
