air breather

Do they make a after market paper air breather in place of the oil bath type? I found the spin on oil filter adapter, but not air. Thanks mick

Check the archives regarding oil bath vs paper air filters. It is pretty much the consensus that you can"t beat oil bath air filters for tractors becuase of the dust generating environment.

I've never seen aftermarket replacements for the oil bath filters on those tractors, but only the diesel models came with the oil bath air filter. The gasoline engine versions of the same tractors came with a 2 stage paper filter. Perhaps you can find one at a salvage yard and switch yours over that way?

As Glen said though, the oil bath filters are considered superior to the paper ones anyway. Why would you want to switch?

Sounds like you and I have similar models, I recently purchased a new oil bath for mine from this site. I needed a new one because my old one was damaged but if you keep the wire mesh clean and change the oil regularly, you shouldn't need to ever buy a new one.

i personally like the oil batch style.. otherwise you could find a peper canister from another unit and scab it in..

The dealer can't charge you $30.00 everytime you service your oil bath air cleaner..
Seriously, I believe that generating service/replacement parts sales is now part of the design for almost all machinery.

What's wrong with your current filter? I have a 3000 of that year and never have a problem with mine. In later years they replaced it with a dry filter in the side of the cowl and it is huge, with an inner filter and outer filter, and they are expensive. For me it speaks well of the ability of the oil bath to do it's job effectively.

If possible, I'd stay with it.
