I just purchased a 1958 ford 821. I have all the manuals but they dont tell me how to prime the piston type hydraulic pump, only the vane type. Could someone explain how to prime it ? Thank You...Ben

There is a pipe type plug on the top of the pump. You simply pour some hyd oil in that hole to prime the pump

Thank you Old for the info, I'm going to prime the pump this morning and hope the 3 point hitch will work. Will I plan on using the ford for plow days and just a toy to play with, I also plan on getting a back blade to push snow. I'll try to post pictures later...Ben

Looks pretty good. I love the x01 Fords. Looks like you put in a new starter and converted to 12V. That definitely helps cold starting. Let us know how the pump priming turns out. -Will

Additionally, if you have bubbles in the fluid, hiccuping or slow lifting sort of thing, remove that plug and spin the engine over till solid fluid comes out.....no bubbles.
