i have a 4 cyl ford 4000 ford diesel tractor i purchased recently. it has a bit of a skip to it and smokes pretty bad with white blue smoke when first started. It does clear up when ran a while any ideas of the problem

By skip, I'm guessing you're saying it has what I call a miss. If that is the case, you have an injector that isn't up to snuff or a cylinder low on compression.

i dont think the compression is bad i was already
leaning toward injector but wasnt sure that would
cause that. Would it be best to replace the nozzle
or to replace the entire inector

Pull the injector in question and have it tested. Let the diesel shop make recommendations.

It likely would not be a bad idea to have all four tested. If the atomization is weak or the spray pattern is off, it can cause the missfire, especially when the engine is first fired and not warmed up.
