IS IT WORTH BUYING A PARTS BOOK,REPAIR MANUAL OR A OPERATERS MANUAL IF YOU OWN OR PURCHASE SOMETHING AS A MACHINE? OR DO YOU GET ON SITES LIKE THIS AND ASK STUPID OR CONFUSING QUESTIONS WITHOUT A CLUE OF RECOGNIZING YOU EVEN HAVE THE ABILITY TO PERFORM SUCH TASKS? IVE BEEN READING THIS SITE FOR 3 MONTHS NOW AND I LIKE TO HELP OTHERS AS WELL BUT O GOD I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Since you've been reading this site for 3 months, you should be aware that typing in all capital letters is considered rude, as on the internet, ALL CAPITAL LETTERS IMPLIES THAT YOU ARE YELLING!

Craig, let me help you with your confusion. Go buy a parts book and owners manual, and let those be your sole source for information. This would be best for you and the members of this board.

I read the manual, then ask stupid questions?
There are some kind and helpful people here, more than on other sights.
George

I believe it worthwhile to buy both owner's and shop manuals if you plan to keep the tractor indefinitely.

You can usually find electronic parts manuals on the manufacturers websites.

The correct answers can always be found on this board. The question is, does the person asking the question have enough mechanical ability to understand the answer?

Like anything there are always two sides to every story and in this case I can see both of them.

On one side you have a guy giving advice.
Yes it does get old giving Joe an answer on how to do something and then next week telling Fred how to do the same simple thing that the repair manual clearly shows.
For me limiting my answers helps. There are several on here to take up the slack most times. I allow them to give all the simple answers and only post when I have something to ADD rather than repeating what someone has already said or posting an answer just to be posting.

Then you have the guy asking the question. He may be asking to see what the repair entails to see if he could even do it. He may be asking so he has an idea of what needs to be done so he does not get taken by a shop doing un-needed repairs.
For those that think I should own a manual if you own the tractor I must ask. Do you own a manual for everything you own or may want to do. Your dishwasher; freezer; TV; roofing repair; plumbing; and on and on.
Not likely.

The thing I like about this forum is the variety of posters. While I can make a tractor purr like a kitten; have the manuals to look up hard questions; I may not know anything about a dishwasher.
Joe and I both have mechanical ability. I help Joe today repair his tractor even though he asks a question I just answered yesterday. Joe could have bought a manual and did the repair his self without asking but he chose just to ask the question here.
If I allowed this to get under my skin I would feel real bad when my dishwasher broke and I found out Joe is the best dishwasher repair guy in the country.

So now that I give you something to think about can you please turn off the Caps Lock?

The safest route is to buy all of the factory manuals. The information contained in those manuals is about 99% correct. The kicker there is that you have to take the time to sit down and sift through pages and pages of manuals to get all of the relevant information.

If you rely soley on the advice of people on this board, the accuracy rate declines. Some guys spout pure nonsense and declare it as fact. How are YOU going to know which is which?

I still haven't figured out who came up with the original idea that typing in capitol letters is considered yelling and rude. Doesn't bother me one bit. In fact it kind of makes it easier for me to read. My old eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

If your desire is to be able to work on your equipment and learn about its operation and repair, then by all means buy a Parts Manual and Shop Manual. I even recommend the Owner's Manual. If you are new to tractors they will help you understand the machine, how to take it apart and put it back together. They will give you the proper names of parts so that when you come here to ask questions, others will know what you are talking about. I have manuals for all my tools and equipment and find them very useful, but I like to learn and do new things. I'm not afraid to ask what others may think are dumb questions because I believe in the context of learning there is no such thing. The only dumb question is the one not asked. There are a great many very knowledgeable people on this site who are willing and have the patience to share their expertise with those of us who are challenged in certain areas. If you want to help others, learn the subject material and help away.

Hi
I have manuals and the internet forums for some things that come in the shop I have never seen, or want to know about before purchase.
I use all the online equipment parts books to. I find with the forums you have to have a brain and be able to think if what the guy is saying or doing in a video is anywhere near the reality.
There are a few people out there on forums and in life in general that are too stupid to own wrenches and equipment But there are a lot of good guys too!.
The other thing to remember on forums is opinions are like A$$ holes everybody has one.
If i have read a post and know about something from my experience as a mechanic or from working in a wrecking yard, I will tell it like it is. Some guys have rose tinted glasses about a few different color tractors on these forums and im the dumb one that has to defend myself to them with what my eyes have seen over the years that kinda annoys me a bit.
Regards Robert

If everyone who got one of these tractors had mechanical experience, tools, the manuals and anything else they might need this forum wouldn't exist.

Lot of times people who have a tractor, the manuals, a few tools and a desire need a little encouragement from these boards to at least try.

Plus a lot of guys know shortcuts too.
