lonnie77 02-10-2013 14:51:24 99.101.123.152 Report to Moderator	I have a problem with the pto not staying engaged. I replaced the bearing and seal, everything went back together fine. With the engine off the pto shaft will turn either direction. I can engage the pto and turn the shaft only one direction. Then start the engine with it engaged and it will work for about 5-10 minutes. The pto will handle is still up and if I disengage the clutch and try to engage the pto and it will barely engage and then pop out. If I lift the mower the pto will engage and stay engage. There is no movement back and forth with the shaft and about a 1/32 movement up and down. It is a Diesel 12/4 gear 2wd synchro. The pto speed is set by the rpm I don’t know if that’s multispeed. I have a service manual and I cannot find anything on this type of problem. The shaft slide’s in with a slight turn and fits into a pilot bearing it the rear. Can anyone help me with this? There is a spacer on the end of the PTO shaft that will fall off when removing the shaft. The upper case under the seat has to be removed to install the spacer.
