ford 4000 cylinder sleeve ?

Ok so its a long story but a year ago i posted that my 4000 had dumped all the anti freeze into the oil pan. due to a lot of reasons im just now fixing it. so i just got the head off. head gasket is fine. the head it self seems good but when i looked at the top of the pistons i see that cyl number 3 is missing small pieces along the edge of the piston to the point i can see the ring and on the cylinder wall at the top of the stroke it looks like there is excess metal fused in tiny clumps in the same position as the chips in the side of the piston. so what would cause this? and where is the best and more affordable place to get the rebuild kit. i assume im gonna have to re sleeve all 3 cylinders?

Could have been caused by detonation or perhaps ether. The pieces would have been pushed to the top by the top ring.

Gasoline or diesel?

If gasoline, I agree with SC.

If diesel, ether?

You should be able to sleeve the block.

Cannot help much with the rebuild kit.

I would sleeve all three. When my 4600 dumped the coolant into the oil a little over a year ago, it was only leaking in one cylinder. When they bored it for the sleeves, that cylinder ended up with a thumb-sized hole, and one other one had a smaller hole. If I'd tried to just do the one cylinder, I'd be tearing it down again before too long.

Are thesr engines prone to cavitition damage? I know some engines can get cavitation induced holes in the cylinders. The "cure" is to keep fresh coolant with extra additive in it.
