Bombardier half tracks

I went to look at a one row corn picker the other day and came home with a set of these. Turns out the 86 year old farmer was an old ford guy. We got to talking about ford tractors so I asked him what else he might have for sale and he said he had a set of half tracks in the barn he would sell.
I mounted them yesterday on one of my 4000's. Snowstrom coming Fri/Sat so I'll try them out with a dearborn back blade.

45 h.p. and that much traction should take care of plowing snow!
We used to have a neighbor with a set on a 4600. He's haul manure all winter with that when we were having trouble hauling with a 7000. My uncle is going to be trying an 8N with a set of tracks (different brand) for hauling maple sap. From what I hear, they'll go almost anywhere.

WOW...

Be careful with these as they belong in a museum.. or an 18 hp tractor. Probably would not use them on dry ground as they would come apart..

Take some pictures in action for us. Wow again.

There was a sale between Quakertown and Doylestown, PA last year that had an Oliver 1655 with a set of ARPS tracks on it. Old farmer had used it for picking corn in the mud and hauling manure if it was muddy or snowy. I'd like a set for one of my tractors but I have quite a bit of pavement to travel on between farms so it wouldn't work well.

ten years ago, almost to the day, i bought a set of tracks at a local farm auction for $125.00. i was hoping to put them on a 8N i had at the time. well it turned out that the axle brackets were for a square axle tractor.
later on i advertised them for sale and sold them to a guy from the mid west for $600.00.
my ignorance paid off for once.

Where can I get the little grill that's on the front of the hood?
Also, what year and model is the tractor shown in the picture?

(quoted from post at 21:28:16 02/12/13) Dave, off subject, but did you ever get that 4000 with the fwd back together?
Its on the waiting list. I found a set of these tracks to put on it but no brackets , think I can make them

I am refering to your 4000 that was a forklift and had the front driving axle as well. That would be a sweet setup with halftracks. Were you able to find a ring and pinion for the front axle? Is there a way I can email you offline to talk about this rig? This forum does not seem to allow private messaging.

There should be a tag on the idler wheel tube or at the spring tower, I may have a manual if your interested.

Thanks Bob. I have the manual that shows the wheel tube that could be adjusted by bushings. If you have a different one I may be interested. You can send me an email.
The tag is on the bracket that connects to the axle but it has been painted over. can't make out the numbers clear. I'll try again when I have more time and better weather. It's not that important at the moment.
