960 overheat update

Got the newly recored radiator put in today. Also recieved the power steering flange assembly back from forddoc to day. Thanks Adam, the parts look and work great. After putting new seals in the control valve and cylinder, I reinstalled everything and fired it up. Ran it around the barnyard for about 45 minutes and the cooling system works as it's intended as does the power steering with no leaks. So, those issues resolved for now. While waiting on parts figured I'd replace the proofmeter and ammeter. Ammeter works fine, but nothing on the proofmeter. When I took the old one out there was no drive cable inside the housing. Red flag right away. But the new one does nothing. Am I correct in thinking that the problem could simply be a broken drive inside the bushing on the hyd pump? Anyone had this before? Does it require pulling the pump or can those parts be accessed from the drive end of the pump? Or, am I completely off base here?

As always, thanks so much for your help.

Yeah, it's spinning. Seems like about quarter of an inch end play in that little drive thing laterally. If I push the cable in, I can get the cable so spin as well. Is the crimp on the cable too small, or the drive gear opened a little? Got me stumped. Seems like it won't stay engaged at the pump. Whatcha think?

When you take it out make sure you check the bolt that holds the gear to the shaft. It should have a slot that the drive goes into. If someone put a standard bolt in there it won't work.

Thanks Mark, I've been looking at the parts book and as much as the drive end moves back and forth, you might be right on. I'll probably try to get it apart tomorrow.
