NH parts book

New? I've been using it for years. I think it's great because I have downloaded numerous exploded views to take with me into the barn when I work on the tractor.

Whatever they changed, it won't even come up in IE or Firefox on my computers. I click on "Search for parts" from the main web page and it spins for a coupe of minutes and times out. IE says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and Firefox says "The connection has timed out". Is it java based? I have disabled or removed java from all of my computers due to the security issues. Maybe that's it.

Messicks seems to have changed theirs a little too. You used to be able to start typing in a model number there and a little pop-up list of matches would appear before you were finished typing the full model number and its matching algorithm seemed to be pretty good, as whatever model I was looking for was usually near the top of the list, and you could click on your model number and go right to the parts diagram for that model. Now you have to type your full model number and click the Search button, and then it returns a list down below, and a lot of the returned models don't seem to match what you've typed, and the model that you're looking for is usually buried pretty far down the list, so you have to search with your eyes through the list. And my old eyes are getting worse and worse at deciphering tiny little fonts on computer screens.

I figured it out. It's not at the "Search for Parts" off the main web page any more. Now you have to go to the Online Parts Store from the main home page, and then click on "Parts Catalog" on the left side. It looks like they brought it in house, as it's all part of the newholland.com web site now, whereas the old one was actually hosted by webparts.pvassociates.net.

I don't like it as much as the old one. It won't grow beyond a certain width in size, no matter how wide my actual browser window gets, so I can't see as much of any diagram as I used to be able to when I zoom in to where I can see the details.

Sean, I hit that spinning thing when I single clicked on a selection (tractors, balers, etc) but tried double clicking, and it went to the next step immediately. I'm running IE on this computer.
HTH, Dave

If you hate this one don't get mad at CNH and go buy Agco stuff that ones just as bad to look stuff up on. I run a repair shop here and don't like that one either. Im not a JD fan but theirs seems pretty good. It doesn't show all the update numbers the dealer has on his system. But it's good enough to get the 10 year old parts guy on the right trail at our dealers for the thing you actually want.
Or too look up where all the parts fit or what you lost when they shoot over the floor taking something apart for the first time L.O.L.
Regards Robert

(quoted from post at 02:11:34 01/13/13) I understand that things change, but why do they make things more difficult?
Job justification.
I had to give up for now, made my head hurt trying to find the 640 info.
