I have no drive at all in and gear. I was blading the driveway and suddenly the power to the rear wheels was lost. I can shift through all gears and none works. It seems like it wants to go in r2, 3, and 4, but won"t. The fluid is full and fairly clean. What can I do?

Most likely cause is failure of the TLC (torque limiting clutch) This unit is in the tractor's flywheel so is a front split. It could be that the clutch hub itself broke loose or it could be that the splines on the input shaft and/or clutch hub wore out.

Check to see if your PTO will function at all. If not the above scenario is a very sure bet.

It actually started working again. It has done that before and it started working again after it sat awhile. It also seemed to help when I raised/lowered the pto. This time it sat for 2 days and this mornin it still didn"t work the first try. I read the manual for a while and tried it again. That time I throttled it up full and put it in 1. It didn"t go immediately but finally slid into gear. I still don"t know what went on.

Raised/lowered the PTO ????????

That lets the TLC out. Sounds more now like a sticky valve in the control valve body or a leak that gets more exaggerated as the unit warms up.

The PTO does not raise and lower. Do you mean raise/lower the 3 point lift? or engage/disengage the PTO?

Guys -- I've only had one SOS apart (and it didn't survive the operation), but wouldn't intermittent failure of the pump in the trannie act like this? What if something occasionally blocked the pickup/intake for the pump?
