I got power to the coil but none leaving. No power to the distributor. For some reason the distributor is grounding out the circuit. How do I correct this? The tractor ran 2 weeks ago with out any problems.

hat is perhaps the correct conclusion, if, when you remove the connection between the distr & the coil, that you then have voltage on both coil terminals. If this is the case, then look to the insulating feed-thru surrounding the terminal in the side of distributor & replace it. CNH part.

Could be a number of problems. First tell us what you have done to it so maybe we know what you did not install correctly if you installed in new parts.
That said pull the wire off the points and see if the short goes away. If it does either the points are bad or you have the condenser wire or other such thing grounding. If it is still grounding out with that wire pulled then the insulator going threw the side of the distributor could be bad. My 841 had that problem and has a wire in place if the insulator. By the way do these test with the point open not close. Also make sure the point are in fact opening and closing as they should because it they do not open then you will have a short cause by them not opening

Figured it out. It was the bolt that goes through the insulator on the distributor was grounding on the inside of the distributor. Took the bolt out & replaced the card board on the inside. Then when in reset the points, the starter froze up. Wrenched that loose & cleaned the starter wire. Waiting for the battery to get charged now. This thing is becoming a headache to me

A weak charge on a battery can/will cause the bendex to get locked up in the ring gear because it jumps out but not as good as it should and that action and a slow spinning start can lock it up. Very common on the Farmall's by the way
