New toy from Christmas

Wife went to auction and bought me a new to me tractor. God I love that woman. But I am needing a starter for a 6000-diesel, and looking for a turbo kit for same just for fun. Used to have one years back and sold it darn it. Oh yeah what she bought was a 971 with a rod window, throttle shaft arm was so loose it fell off the shaft and vroom, n boom. So I am going to make a toy by dropping the 6 cyl in it. Done one before now I want one for my own. Btw we had overhauled the trans (DD) about five years ago so no worries there.

Sounds good! Here is my 901, I am thinking of putting 6000 sheet metal on my 9000 and entering it in enhanced classes. What do you think?

I do not know if it will interchange??? I have a fresh rebuilt starter from a 172 cid diesel. It was in a 841, has 3 mounting holes. I can send photos. I have $150 in rebuild. I will take that plus shipping, should ship in $10.95 USPS box. Jim in FL --No-Advertising-in-Forums

I used to have a 5000 chassis with 456Tcid in it with 6000
sheet metal and starts out much lighter and pulled better than
the 9000 we used to have
I still wish I had our pullers but maybe again when my two girls
are old enough to do it like dad did with my brother and I.

Nope totally different beast here. Ouch 150. that is way high cause you can do a h"ll of a lot to them for less than 75.00. Including bench labor. Parts aren't that expensive for them.

Keep us informed of your progress of the 6000 motor in the 971. We have always kicked around that idea to do some pulling with. Do you have any pictures of the pullers you had? We pulled a couple of 6000's one of them we put the 363 dorsett motor in.

We never did get any photos of them, we started pullin in the outta the field class with 9000 in 1979, built the 5000 in 85 when I was 8. It is a good thing they called it that back then cause they sure wouldn't live long out in a field! Also had a 960 that grandad used to pick corn with that I started out pulling at 10. By fourteen I drove one of the bigger two, and the more iron we hung the better we did. By 16 my little brother was pullin the 9000 and I had the 5000 all to myself. My senior year we were at a pull and an old boy from Missouri talked my dad into sellin, he made him a package deal everything but the semi tractor. But it was like sellin a classic car, later on you're kickin yourself. Wish dad knew the guys name to see how he did with them, we sure have a collection of trophies at the shop.

God you are a blessed man,
does your wife have any unmarried sisters?
:) wink.

I could not even get a bench vise out of my wife for xmas after sender her a link to a nice one on Craigslist.

Sorry she was an only child. I was working a sale for the auctioneer in town, and had sent her to that auction to buy some equipment, which all went for more than I gave her bids for. So she bought the tractor for me instead.
